Dear colleagues from all supporting professional groups, dear volunteers in hospice care, dear individuals interested in
palliative care!
This year, we cordially invite you to the Herne Palliative Care Day once again.
Shaping and supporting the end of life is central to palliative care. Our work is guided by legal frameworks, with patient self-determination at the end of life being essential.
This topic will be a focus of this year’s event.
Palliative sedation is an important therapeutic option in palliative medical care for otherwise untreatable symptoms and unbearable suffering. The European Association for Palliative Care recently published its revised guidelines for palliative sedation, and we look forward to an update on this. Palliative care means much more than alleviating distressing symptoms. Only a minority of patients with a life-altering diagnosis are asked about their wishes and goals for the rest of their lives. With the Future Dialogue, we aim to present a structured guide for conversations in this life situation. Insights from advance care planning are essential for the subsequent individualized continued care of our patients.
We very much look forward to your participation!
