The Thoraxzentrum Ruhrgebiet is a joint, interdisciplinary institution of the Department of Thoracic Surgery and the Department of Pulmonology at Evangelisches Krankenhaus Herne (EVK), as well as the Department of Hematology, Oncology & Palliative Medicine at Augusta-Kranken-Anstalt Bochum (AKA). The Thoraxzentrum Ruhrgebiet is a certified Lung Cancer Center of the German Cancer Society (Deutsche Krebsgesellschaft) and a German reference site for medical technology companies Covidien, Hitachi, Olympus, and Karl Storz. At our two locations in Herne-Eickel and Bochum, we treat over 12,500 outpatient and 8,500 inpatient individuals each year.
