Information for Patients at Thoraxzentrum Ruhrgebiet
On this page, we have compiled the most important details for patients and their relatives. Please click on the respective section to learn more.
Admission and Screening
Information regarding admission, discharge, and follow-up care will be discussed, whenever possible, during the admission interview. Every patient at Thoraxzentrum Ruhrgebiet is routinely screened by us for germs and difficult-to-treat bacteria to rule out the risk of infection for other patients. In case of emergency admission, the patient may be isolated until the screening results are available. It may also be necessary to treat the patient on an outpatient basis before admission to the Thoraxzentrum or before an operation.
Inpatient Care
Our dedicated team of experienced nurses and doctors does everything possible to support your recovery and well-being. To optimize care and healing, other professional groups are involved in the treatment process. These include, for example, qualified diabetes educators, dietitians, psycho-oncologists, wound experts, podiatrists, as well as physical, occupational, and speech therapists. Relatives are welcome to participate in the care discussion if desired.
Visiting Hours
Visitors are welcome. However, we ask for your understanding that guests may be asked to leave the room during daily rounds or during treatments and care measures. To ensure smooth hospital operations, we kindly ask you to adhere to visiting hours.
Meals and Beverages
For our inpatient patients at Thoraxzentrum Ruhrgebiet, we offer three meals per day: breakfast, lunch with menu choices, and dinner. Our nursing staff takes meal orders in the morning. Coffee and cake are served in the afternoon. Additionally, water, tea, and coffee are available all day from a dispenser.
Rounds
During regular rounds, the ward physician visits patients at their bedside. They exchange information with the responsible nurse about the current status of treatment and care. This ensures that every patient receives optimal care.
Shift Handover
To ensure optimal patient care at all times of the day and night, our nurses work different shifts. A shift handover takes place at each change of shift, ensuring seamless information exchange.
Discharge and Aftercare
During the stay, all care-relevant information for the period after discharge will be discussed with the patient and, if applicable, relatives. We are happy to inform you about disease-specific self-help groups that can be attended. If desired, we can also arrange contact through social counseling with contacts for follow-up rehabilitation, outpatient nursing services, or home placement.
Your satisfaction is important to us. For questions or complaints, you can always contact your responsible nurse or the ward management. We would also appreciate it if you would fill out our “Complaint and Feedback Management” form to give us your feedback.
